I've enjoyed driving my 2011 Ford Escape for 6 years now, and it has given me minimal issues. I did have to replace a couple things, for example the AC compressor, but most things were regular maintenance. I purchased the 7 year service plan, so have not had to worry about oil changes, wiper blades etc. Unfortunately the back liftgate has started to rust on the bottom edge. It seems like it is a bit of a design flaw, as water tends to get in there and not dry out. I'll try sanding it down and filling it but not sure how long it will last. Otherwise, its still running fine and I hope to get many more years out of it!
